“tiles ok” is not a tolerance. measure_offset_grid runs with no
max_off_mas, and astrometry_offsets sets
off_ok=True whenever that is None — so N/N counts tiles
whose offset histogram had a coherent peak, however large the offset.
The column that carries the gate is worst tile, against
15 mas.

F200W_o049: 11/128 exposures misaligned vs their visit consensusAn exposure is misaligned when its offset exceeds 2.0 mas AND is significant against the peak error bars. At m2 this CORRECTS the offsets table and stops the run; the crf frames must be regenerated before cataloging continues.checkpoint_m2_F200W_o049_latest.json
what is affected, and why
Affected: 8/8 detectors — spread across detectors, so the frame as a whole moved: look at the offsets table and whether these exposures were regenerated from _cal after the table changed. fix_alignment SKIPS a frame that already has a RAOFFSET header, so correcting the table alone leaves stale frames in place; regenerate the working copy from _cal instead of re-applying on top.Per-exposure offset vectors, coloured by detector. Solid = flagged misaligned. One colour pointing away means one detector; everything fanning out means the frame moved. F200W_o049 visit 1: reference tie recorded as could-not-verify (apply_ok=false)A correction is applied only when the tie is coherent AND the gross cross-check (100 mas) passes AND the per-tile map is clean. F200W_o049 visit 1: worst tile 9635.8 mas at cell (3,2) (> 15 mas)35/36 tiles are reported "ok", but that counts tiles whose offset histogram had a coherent PEAK — not tiles within tolerance. The m7 cross-band gate is no significant 2" cell above 15 mas, and this cell exceeds it, so the bulk tie being ~0 does not mean the field is flat.checkpoint_m2_F200W_o049_latest.json
what is affected, and why
36/36 cells exceed 15 mas. They are not confined to the edge, so this is an interior residual: a distortion or per-detector alignment problem, not a coverage artefact. The bulk tie for this visit is 57.90 mas — a small bulk value cannot cancel a local one.Per-tile residual across the mosaic. Outlined cells exceed tolerance; the circled cell is the worst. Whether the bad cells sit on the edge or in the interior is the diagnosis. cell off (mas) dRA dDec contrast pairs (3,2) 9,635.8 -6,346.4 7,250.6 4.3 234775 (2,3) 6,997.9 5,248.1 4,629.1 5.5 131142 (5,0) 2,837.0 -2,712.7 -830.5 5.0 32917 (1,4) 2,729.1 1,546.4 2,248.6 6.0 25794 (2,0) 2,710.7 -2,226.8 1,545.8 6.0 35299 (0,4) 2,707.3 -2,637.2 -611.9 5.0 26741 (3,0) 2,613.5 -2,326.8 -1,190.1 5.0 30635 (2,2) 2,596.8 -2,592.6 -148.3 5.0 19259 (4,4) 2,568.1 -2,562.4 169.9 6.0 39609 (2,1) 2,527.6 2,306.9 1,033.0 6.0 33173 (4,3) 2,498.7 1,448.6 -2,035.9 5.0 19932 (0,1) 2,495.8 -2,294.0 983.0 5.0 29788 (5,1) 2,425.4 -2,231.2 -950.9 5.0 35047 (5,4) 2,264.9 -2,227.4 410.3 5.0 28886 (5,3) 2,234.2 -1,990.7 -1,014.4 5.0 17809 (4,5) 2,216.8 -2,091.4 734.8 7.0 46529 (5,2) 2,074.5 -2,071.8 105.1 6.0 25043 (1,0) 2,037.5 -851.8 -1,850.9 6.0 33094 (0,0) 2,008.9 -1,962.8 427.8 5.0 29411 (0,2) 1,930.2 1,930.1 7.5 5.0 17608 (3,5) 1,884.8 -1,683.2 848.2 6.0 31766 (4,1) 1,827.3 -1,770.7 -451.2 6.0 31890 (1,1) 1,397.0 -868.1 -1,094.6 6.0 35279 (3,4) 1,383.5 -1,023.8 -930.5 6.0 32128 (3,3) 1,174.2 -1,093.7 427.2 5.5 158788 (4,0) 1,001.8 -748.0 -666.4 6.0 39407 (3,1) 880.5 -128.8 -871.0 6.0 24762 (2,5) 109.5 -105.6 -28.8 6.0 24353 (1,3) 52.2 -44.1 -28.0 7.0 187603 (5,5) 50.5 -11.1 -49.2 7.0 30350 (0,3) 45.1 -34.7 -28.7 6.0 200153 (2,4) 44.1 20.7 -38.9 5.5 306284 (1,2) 39.6 -27.8 -28.1 5.3 225968 (4,2) 39.5 -25.9 -29.8 5.7 256588 (0,5) 34.6 -19.6 -28.5 6.5 297594 (1,5) 31.9 -29.2 12.8 7.0 24498 -
